First 35

Resolutely seaworthy, incredibly spacious, the First 35 Carbon Edition has an unbeatable level of equipment and finish in this class.   This 2016 version has a carbon mast, lead keel, composite multi-position tilting steering wheel as standard.

ORC optimized carbon mast – Beneteau First 35
The Estonian Jazz Sailing Team set up and tested the new mast racing environment.

High modulus mast
If you choose the mast to be built from high-modulus carbon fiber instead of the standard regular modulus carbon fiber, you can save an additional ~15-20% in mast tube weight and most likely to use a smaller mast section which results in less windage.
Extra-long overhang top crane
The larger the roach of the mainsail the more space you need while tacking. As we have a fixed backstay here, we had to maximize the top crane overhang and re-inforced the top to withstand the extra loads.
The optimization was provided by Maurizio Cossutti.

Pauger Carbon was approached by a First 35’s client to prepare the mast package, which includes:

  • High modulus weight 50kg (178 x 100 mm), carbon masthead with extra overhang;
  • Mast full length: 17 760 mm;
  • High-strength regular carbon fiber pre-preg boom (220 x 100mm) – 5 150 mm length – 16 kg;
  • Light-weight Pauger Carbon Vang;
  • Reckmann-Holmatro internal Hydraulic Mast Jack system;
  • Pauger – BSI/Blue Wave complete Nitronic Rod system including captang, terminals and turnbuckles, V1: 7,5 mm.
